About Us

About the Biohacking Village

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization at the intersection of healthcare, emerging biotechnology, and cybersecurity.

The Biohacking Village is a community-driven nonprofit that brings together patients, clinicians, security researchers, medical device manufacturers, regulators, and hospital leaders — all united by a single mission: making healthcare safer through better cybersecurity.

Founded to address the growing threat landscape in connected medical devices and health infrastructure, we create an intimate and interactive space for innovation, collaboration, and deeper exploration of the bioeconomy. Our events and initiatives span the globe, from our flagship presence at DEF CON in Las Vegas to international conferences in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

We are for anyone who cares about the intersection of technology and human health — whether you are a seasoned security professional, a curious student, a healthcare practitioner trying to understand risk, or a policymaker shaping the future of regulation. No background is too niche; every perspective strengthens the community.

Our programs include hands-on device security labs, capture-the-flag competitions, speaker series, digital literacy workshops, coordinated vulnerability disclosure support, and year-round educational resources. We also operate as a CVE Numbering Authority (CNA), helping researchers responsibly disclose vulnerabilities in medical and healthcare systems.

The Village is built and sustained by a passionate team of volunteers, advisors, and staff who work 365 days a year. We are grateful to our sponsors, partners, and the broader DEF CON community whose support makes all of this possible. Together, we believe that "Healthier Tech leads to Healthier People."
